Del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” Set For Dec 2021

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that he’s wrapped filming on his adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel “Nightmare Alley” and has set a December 2021 release date for the feature.

Bradley Cooper stars as a manipulative carnival worker who falls in love with a mysterious, dangerous psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett). The film also stars Willem Dafoe as the carnival’s barker, Ron Perlman as a strongman, Richard Jenkins as a wealthy industrialist, Rooney Mara as Cooper’s co-worker.

Shooting on the movie started back in January, but shut down because of the pandemic. It later kicked off again in the Fall but didn’t complete filming until this week and marks del Toro’s first directorial effort since the Best Picture Oscar win for “The Shape of Water”.
