Nat Geo Plans NASA Artemis Doco Series

National Geographic has set a group of award-winning documentary producers for the event series “Return To the Moon” which follows NASA’s Artemis program which aims to land the first woman and next man on the moon by 2024.

The team will use innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface – arriving half a century after the Apollo flights.

Filming will take place over the next four years and cover everything between now and the lunar landing launch of the Artemis III which will involve lunar landings and a return to Earth.

Sundance Award-winning filmmaker Jerry Rothwell (“The Reason I Jump”) will serve as series director. The series will be designed as an immersive, multimedia experience, featuring digital news stories, features and podcasts told along the way.

Oscar winning producer Simon Chinn (“Man on Wire,” “Searching for Sugar Man”) and two-time Emmy winning producer Jonathan Chinn (“American High,” “Whitney”) will produce alongside Emmy nominee Suzanne Lavery (“The Traffickers”).
