The NBC series “Young Rock,” inspired by the life of Dwayne Johnson, is in full production and has been shooting in and around Brisbane and South East Queensland in Australia.
Universal Television made the announcement yesterday about the series which will chronicle Johnson’s formative years. It secured a straight-to-series order in January.
Johnson will appear in each episode of the series that hails from “Fresh Off the Boat” creator Nahnatchka Khan and co-executive producer Jeff Chiang.
Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant and Uli Latukefu play Johnson at different ages (10, 15, 20 respectively). Stacey Leilua and Joseph Lee Anderson play Johnson’s parents while Ana Tuisila, Fasitua Amosa and John Tui also star.
Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jennifer Carreras executive produce. Jeffrey Walker and Daina Reid are directing various episodes throughout the series.
