NBC is developing a drama TV series based on Gus Van Sant’s film “Finding Forrester” which was released in 2000 and marks one of the final big screen performances of Sean Connery.
In the film, a black teenager (Rob Brown), a gifted writer and basketball player, lands a scholarship to a prestigious private high school and befriends a reclusive Scottish writer (Connery).
The new take switches out Connery’s character for a “reclusive lesbian author whose career was ruined by a public scandal” and makes the teen a homeless orphan.
“The Chi” co-executive producers TJ Brady & Rasheed Newson, director Tim Story, NBA star Stephen Curry, Unanimous Media, Sony Pictures Television are all involved.
