Jim Henson Co. Plans “Hagar the Horrible” Series

“Fresh Off the Boat” writer and producer Eric Ziobrowski is penning an animated family sitcom based on the King Features newspaper comic strip “Hagar the Horrible”.

The series will follow the hardworking Viking family led by a larger than life hero, Hagar, who can’t quite understand how the society he once understood is changing around him. The project is being produced by both King Features and The Jim Henson Company.

The series will use Henson Digital Puppetry Studio, a proprietary animation technology that allows Henson’s puppeteers to manipulate animated characters in real time – allowing for organic and spontaneous performances.

Ziobrowski, Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford will executive produce. King Features is also developing a previously announced adaptation of video game “Cuphead” for Netflix.
