The Apple TV+ eight-episode murder-mystery comedy series “The Afterparty,” which hails from Chris Miller and Phil Lord (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “21 Jump Street”), has unveiled a major ensemble cast.
The single camera is set at a high school reunion afterparty. Each episode will feature a retelling of the same night told through a different character’s perspective, each with its own unique visual format and film genre to match the teller’s personality.
Tiffany Haddish will play the eccentric detective assigned to solve the high-profile case, with John Early as her over eager partner. Sam Richardson plays a loveable escape room designer who hopes to reconnect with his high school crush and school administrator (Zoe Chao) who recently left her arrogant former athlete husband (Ike Barinholtz).
Ben Schwartz plays a relentlessly positive best friend with musical ambitions, Ilana Glazer plays the former high school valedictorian, Dave Franco will play a former dorky drama student turned famous actor/singer, while Jamie Demetriou plays a mostly ignored ex-student.
TriStar TV and Sony Pictures TV are backing the project on which Miller will serve as creator, showrunner and executive producer and Lord will executive produce. Filming is now underway.
