Donal Logue Joins “Resident Evil” Reboot

Donal Logue (“Gotham,” “Terriers”) will play police chief Brian Irons in the “Resident Evil” film reboot in the works at Constantin Film ahead of a planned release next year.

Penned and directed by Johannes Roberts (“47 Meters Down), the new effort restarts the Capcom game-inspired franchise with darker tone that’s much more horror than action based and more directly inspired by the first two games of the series.

The story unfolds on a fateful night in Raccoon City in 1998; the fictional Midwestern town that’s the center of a bioweapon virus outbreak that destroys it and forever changes the country.

Kaya Scoledario (“Crawl”) will play Claire Redfield who is heading into Raccoon City to visit her brother Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell). The film also stars Hannah John-Kamen (“Ant-Man and the Wasp”) as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper (“The Umbrella Academy”) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (“Now Apocalypse”) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (“Legends of Tomorrow”) as William Birkin.

Chad Rook and Lily Gao have been cast in supporting roles. Robert Kulzer, James Harris and Hartley Gorenstein are producing.
