HBO Max has ordered “Tiny Toons Loonversity,” a half-hour animated reboot of iconic 1990s cartoon series “Tiny Toon Adventures”.
The new show will feature characters from the original series and has alreadyreceived a two-season order, with Steven Spielberg attached to return as an executive producer.
Erin Gibson will serve as showrunner and co-executive producer, while Nate Cash will also co-executive produce. Warner Bros. Animation head Sam Register will also executive produce along with Amblin Television’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
That’s not all though as HBO Max and Cartoon Network have also greenlit “Unicorn: Warriors Eternal,” the new animated series from “Samurai Jack” and “Primal” creator Genndy Tartakovsky.
That show is produced by Cartoon Network Studios and will follow a team of ancient teen heroes as they work together to protect the world from an unforeseen omen.
Finally, HBO Max and Cartoon Network have also announced three new projects from children’s book author, illustrator, and playwright Mo Willems – the animated series “Unlimited Squirrels!,” the CG-animated rock special “Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Special,” and a pilot order for a live-action series titled “Cat the Cat’s Show the Show Show with YOU the YOU!”.
Tim McKeon is attached as showrunner of “Unlimited Squirrels!” and will cowrite with Willems. Willems and Mr. Warburton co-wrote the script for “Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed” while Kristen McGregor is showrunner on ‘Cat the Cat’. Willems is executive producing all three shows.
