Following a five year break, former “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart will return to television as part of a new “expansive, multi-year deal” he has signed with Apple.
The key element of this is Stewart will serve as the anchor of a new and original current affairs series on AppleTV+ which is already planned to run for multiple seasons. The hour-long show will tackle a single topic in each episode, but the series will release episodes at irregular intervals – no weekly or nightly layout.
Effectively Stewart will have the freedom to release an episode whenever he wants as he “explores topics that are currently part of the national conversation and his advocacy work”. At the same time, a companion podcast is being developed “to continue the discussion”.
James Dixon and Richard Plepler will executive produce the new series.
