Chalamet-Led Bob Dylan Biopic On Hold

The Timothee Chalamet-led Bob Dylan biopic “Going Electric” at Fox Searchlight has been put on hold indefinitely according to Collider.

Phedon Papamichael, the cinematographer of Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” is re-teaming with his “Ford vs. Ferarri” director James Mangold on the Dylan biopic.

Papamichael, talking up Sorkin’s film, told the outlet of the pause and says while he doesn’t believe the project is dead, it will be very difficult to do without a full retooling due to the settings:

“[It is] a tough one to pull off in a COVID era because it’s all in small clubs with lots of extras in period costumes, so you’ve got lots of hair and makeup.”

Papamichael hasn’t confirmed whether talks are ongoing to outright cancel the feature which will chronicle Dylan’s rise in folk music and sudden transition to rock ‘n’ roll. Dylan himself was to executive produce.
