Wendell Pierce (“The Wire,” “Jack Ryan”) has officially been cast as legendary artist B.B. King in the directed “The Thrill Is On”.
King died in 2015 at age 89 and has remained one of the most influential and respected blues musicians of all time – his recording career spanning nearly six decades and over forty studio albums.
Zanetis and Melora Donoghue are penning the script which will center on the friendship between King and young musician Michael Zanetis. No other casting has been revealed at this time.
In a tweet this afternoon, Pierce says: “We are official. Preparation has begun on a film where I will be honored to play the great, BB King. Humbled.”
