Live-Action “Chip ‘n Dale” Targets Spring Start?

A new report indicates that production on a live-action/CG animated hybrid feature based on the classic 1990s animated series “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers” is set to begin filming next spring in Los Angeles.

The DisInsider reports the news, saying the film is being setup as part of the company’s original films for Disney+. The site also indicates that the original voice cast for the Rescue Rangers team including Tress MacNeille (Chip and Gadget), Corey Burton (Dale and Zipper), and Jim Cummings (Monterey Jack) are all hopefully returning.

“How I Met Your Mother” writing duo Dan Gregor and Doug Mand penned the most recent draft of the film which is described as “meta” and very self-referential as opposed to a straightforward origin or detective story.

Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer (“Hot Rod,” “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping”) helms the new film which is being produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.
