Legendary Entertainment has released a new poster for the David Blue Garcia-helmed reboot of the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” franchise.
The film made headlines in August when directors Andy & Ryan Tohill abruptly exited the film one week into production in Bulgaria and were replaced by Garcia. Chris Thomas Devlin penned and Fede Alvarez produce the new take.
The franchise, about the insane Texan serial killer Leatherface and his backwoods family, has a confusing eight films in total – the original 1974 film and its three sequels, the high profile 2003 reboot and its 2006 prequel, a 3D direct sequel (ignoring all others) to the 1974 original in 2013, and a prequel to the 1974 original in 2017.
What story this will use is unclear but previous reports have dubbed this a ‘revival’ and another go at a direct sequel, ignoring all the others, to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original. The caption of the new poster supports this saying: “In 1974, the world witnessed one of the most bizarre crimes in the annals of American history. In 2021, the face of madness returns.”
