Armie Hammer Open To Another “U.N.C.L.E.”

Guy Ritchie’s film adaptation of classic TV series “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and brought with it a lot of fun.

From the stylish 60s suits and Italian setting to an old school Bond feel, snappy dialogue, playful homoeroticism, and thoroughly enjoyable performances all round from Hugh Grant’s section chief to our two leading men – Henry Cavill’s Napoleon Solo and Armie Hammer’s Ilya Kuryakin.

The film did decent box-office and reviews, but more and more have discovered it in the years since and its profile has risen. As a result there has been a push for a sequel and Hammer, out doing press for “Rebecca” recently, tells Cinema Blend he’d jump at the chance:

“If someone was like, ‘Hey, do you want to do a sequel?’ I would be like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s go!’ … I hear it. I get people being like, ‘Are you going to do a sequel?’ The answer is, ‘I hope so! I’d love to.’

At one point, Lionel Wigram, who was the producer and also who wrote the original script, he and I talked about ideas and he told me an idea that he had for it, and I was like, ‘That sounds great! Whatever your idea [is], let’s just do it!’ I don’t know, man. Keep pushing. Hopefully one day we can do it. I’d love to do it.”

Unfortunately no actual movement appears to have been made on a follow-up since it was first touted three years ago. Hammer is keeping busy with “Rebecca” hitting Netflix on October 21st and his role in “Death on the Nile” coming on December 18th.
