Michael B. Jordan Producing “Static Shock” Film

Michael B. Jordan and his Outlier Society label have been set as producer of the upcoming “Static Shock” movie currently in the works at Warner Bros. Pictures. The adaptation was first revealed during August during the DC FanDome event.

The original “Static” comic turned “Static Shock” animated series follows Virgil Hawkins, a teenager who transforms into a superhero who gains electromagnetic powers after being exposed to strange gas.

The series was noteworthy for being the rare animated show to be headlined by a Black character, with the Static Shock version joining the DC Comics universe in 2008.

Outlier will be the creative center of the film and allow Jordan to be directly involved in franchise-building. Reginald Hudlin is the main fimmaker spearheading the project – he made the announcement in August.
