Jamie Foxx is reportedly in final talks to reprise the role of the villain Electro in the third Tom Holland-led “Spider-Man” installment at Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
His return is highly unexpected. Foxx served as the main antagonist of the Andrew Garfield-led “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” a film often labelled the worst or second worst of the live-action Spider-Man features. Foxx’s performance was also not well received.
This wouldn’t be the first time a pre-MCU Spider-Man actor has returned to a role though, that was the case with J.K. Simmons who offered a slightly different interpretation of his J. Jonah Jameson role from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man era in a brief cameo in last year’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.
Most of the supporting cast from the previous two movies including Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori are all expected to return when filming resumes in Atlanta this fall. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing while Jon Watts once again directs.
The new “Spider-Man” is currently dated for a November 5th 2021 release.
