Julianne Moore will join Amy Adams in the film adaptation of Broadway musical “Dear Evan Hansen” at Universal Pictures. Moore will play Platt’s mother, Heidi Hansen.
26-year-old Ben Platt is reprising his Tony-winning role of Evan Hansen, a socially awkward teen who gets caught up in a lie when he says he was best friends with a schoolmate who commits suicide. The act initially brings him closer to a crush and brings him attention but he must face repercussions when the truth surfaces.
Stephen Chbosky is directing from a script by Steven Levenson while Benj Pasek and Justin Paul penned the music and lyrics. Colton Ryan, Danny Pino, Kaitlyn Dever and Amandla Stenberg also star.
