Sydney Chandler and Katherine McNamara (“Arrow”) are in talks to star in the reboot of the 1998 slasher film “Urban Legend” at Screen Gems.
Colin Minihan “(“What Keeps You Alive”) is writing and directing the new take and Chandler, daughter of Kyle Chandler, will play the main protagonist while Keith Powers (“Straight Outta Compton”) being eyed for a potential role.
The story will center on a diverse cast of college students as they navigate a series of bizarre deaths that resemble urban legends. The new take updates it for the digital age where urban legends are often born on the internet and spread like wildfire. In addition the increasingly easier to access deepfake technology will come into play.
Mike Medavoy and Benjamin Anderson will produce.
