Gunn’s “Suicide Squad” Gets Some Videos

Following its premiere at the DC Fandome event, Warner Bros. Pictures has released both a character line-up video and a behind-the-scenes featurette for director James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad,” a part sequel/part reboot of the 2016 film.

Gunn read the initial Ostrander run of the comics in preparation for the film and claims Harley Quinn is the character he was most excited to write for. He also says there are more effects in the film than in his VFX team’s history of movies combined. This follows on from him previously confirming the film is “100%, zero interference, no-holds-barred ME” and the clip certainly suggests both a bigger scale and a far more bonkers presentation than the last film.

The full character line-up includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, John Cena as Peacemaker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Michael Rooker as Savant, Alice Braga as Sol Soria, Pete Davidson as Black Guard, Nathan Fillion as TDK, Sean Gunn as Weasel, Flula Borg as Javelin, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Daniela Melchor as Ratcatcher, Mayling NG as Mongal, and King Shark.

The film opens in cinemas in August next year.
