“Space Jam: A New Legacy” Outfit Revealed

A brief video is out showcasing NBA superstar Lebron James wearing the new Tune Squad jersey for the upcoming sequel “Space Jam: A New Legacy” from SpringHill Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures.

In the original, Michael Jordan teamed up with Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck to battle a group of animated aliens on the court. It’s James rather than Jordan this time around.

James leads a cast that includes basketball stars like Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Diana Taurasi, Klay Thompson, and Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike. “Iron Man” actor Don Cheadle and “Star Trek: Discovery” star Sonequa Martin-Green also star.

Recently an audio recording of James’ farewell speech on the last day of production was released on TMZ and he recalls how he didn’t hesitate when the opportunity to make the sequel came along:

“I’m gonna be honest completely with you guys – when I found out about the project, I was like it’s ‘Space Jam’! It’s a movie that I grew up watching. People in the movie that I idolize. I was like absolutely, I gotta do it. There’s no way I can turn down ‘Space Jam’!

I’m just a small kid from Akron, Ohio – a very small town outside of Cleveland. From a single-parent household, I’m the only child, my mother had absolutely nothing. She was walking around high school when she was 16 years old and she was pregnant with me as a high school sophomore. So, I’m really not supposed to be here.

Growing up in the inner city, as an African-American kid, there’s no way you’re supposed to f–king make it out. And, the fact that I’m who I am as an African-American adult now with three kids of my own, and I made it out of the situations that I was in. This s–t is like extra credit for me man.”

Malcolm D. Lee helms “Space Jam: A New Legacy” from a script by Justin Lin, Alfredo Botello, Andrew Dodge, and Willie Ebersol. Ryan Coogler produces. The project wrapped filming just before the pandemic hit and so is still on track for its original July 16th 2021 release.
