Wan, Levy To Produce Netflix’s “My Wife & I”

Talks are underway with Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things,” “Real Steel”) and James Wan (“Aquaman,” “The Conjuring”) to produce an adaptation of the six-part Reddit story “My Wife & I Bought a Ranch” for Netflix.

The streaming giant has made a commitment for the rights to the Matt Query short story, and scripting fees for the author’s brother Harrison Query to write the screenplay. Scott Glassgold, Dan Cohen and Michael Clear will also produce.

The story involves a couple, Sasha and her ex-Marine husband Harry, who find their dream house in a ranch in Idaho and manage to snag it despite a lowball offer. Soon they find they are not alone in their new place – their neighbors inform them that there is a malevolent spirit in the valley.

The spirit manifests itself by coming to the house in the same manner at the start of each season. There are certain steps that must be followed to keep the spirit out of their house, and the tension and violence grows with each gory ritual as the duel between it and Harry becomes personal.
