Xbox Showcase Teases “Halo,” “Fable” & More

While it didn’t reveal either a release date or price, Microsoft made good on its Xbox Showcase by showing off plenty of games and gameplay footage from many of its first party titles coming to the new platform.

As has been reported, the company has made it so that every game title coming to the Xbox Series X over its first two years will also work with Xbox One X, not to mention all of these games are also coming to PC. That means very little was on display showing off visuals or gameplay that looked designed for the new generation of hardware from the ground up – instead looking more like games today playing on a great PC.

In an interesting admission it was revealed that “Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga,” the game with that stunning footage that aired at the Game Awards late last year, is being developed in Unreal Engine 5. That explains in part both how that footage looked so good and why no trailer was shown today as the title seems likely a little way off.

The company continues to push its Xbox Game Pass service hard, promising that all of the games below will be available on Game Pass whether you have a Series X or not. The presentation frequently pushed that many of the titles will play at a consistent 4K/60fps, while an existing title like “Ori and the Will of the Wisps” could be boosted to 120fps.

Along with the expected “Halo Infinite” push there was also a “Fable” reboot, more entries in the “State of Decay” and “Forza” franchises, and a bunch of indie titles with Obsidian Entertainment’s “Avowed” looking like the biggest new IP.
