First Peacock Download Figures A Bit Flaccid

NBCUniversal’s new streaming service Peacock has proven a bit of a flightless bird at launch.

According to intelligence firm Sensor Tower (via Tech Crunch), the Peacock app was downloaded approximately 1.5 million times in the U.S. App Store and Google Play in its first six days of release.

To give you a comparison, that’s little more than the 1.2 million downloads over the same period for the much-maligned Quibi, and WAY behind the 13 million Disney+ downloads over the same time period.

Peacock has also fallen quickly on the iPhone App Store, going from first to #26 on the non-game apps list. On media players and connected TV services like Google Play and Apple TV boxes however, the app has been holding the top spot since launch and it has in fact topped HBO Max on some app download lists.

The service launched wide on July 15th with numerous original TV shows and large library of content. Reviews for the service have been generally pretty good.
