Netflix has announced on social media that Gina Prince-Bythewood’s action film “The Old Guard,” starring Charlize Theron, has become one of the streamers top ten original films.
The streaming giant is estimating that the film, based on Greg Rucka’s graphic novel about a suddenly exposed group of immortal mercenaries, will be seen by around 72 million households within its first four weeks.
Should those numbers bear out, that would make it the sixth highest launch for a Netflix original film, sandwiched in between “Murder Mystery” on 84 million and “The Irishman” on 64 million.
Netflix also announced their most-watched series and movies during the second quarter of the year with Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods” pulling in 27 million while Steve Carell’s “Space Force” series was sampled by 40 million households.
