The first season of “Doom Patrol” ran a surprisingly long fifteen episodes when it launched on DC Universe last year, but the same won’t be true for the HBO Max-airing second season.
The sixth episode of the new season aired this week and now actress Abigail Shapiro, who plays Dorothy Spinner on the series, says don’t expect much in the way of closure due to the shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking to Insider (via CBM), Shapiro revealed they were unable to complete filming prior to the shutdown and so the planned season finale may have been scrapped:
“It was basically all finished. There was going to be one more episode and we only had a couple of scenes left, but we never got to finish that episode. So, I don’t know if that episode is ever going to air or anything. I don’t know much about what’s happening.”
At present the series is only scheduled to air up to a ninth episode for the year with that episode coming on August 6th and apparently ending on a major cliffhanger. It’s likely the subsequent episode will be saved to serve as a potential season three premiere should the show be renewed.
