Amblin Partners will reunite with “The Help” director Tate Taylor on “Miss Macy” based on the true story of Trisha Mitchell Coburn and her life after she meets her titular mentor.
Emmy winner Jean Smart (“Watchmen,” “Fargo,” “24”) will star as Miss Macy and serve as executive producer while Taylor will direct and produce.
The story follows a young girl who is plucked from her unhappy home life and set on a path for success by an eccentric woman who sees something special in her. Pulitzer Prize-winner and Oscar nominee Beth Henley will write the script.
