Filmmaker Ava DuVernay is teaming with former NFL superstar quarterback Colin Kaepernick for a six-part limited series on Netflix titled “Colin in Black & White”.
The outspoken ex-San Francisco 49ers QB will collaborate on the scripted series with the “When They See Us” filmmaker which will explore Kaepernick’s teenage years and early football, basketball and baseball successes in Turlock, California.
Michael Starrbury completed the scripts for the limited series last month with the show putting emphasis on the influences and circumstances that developed the social and cultural conscience of the young man adopted by a white family.
Kaepernick has been shunned by the NFL since 2016 after kneeling during the national anthem as a protest against police violence. He is now set to narrate and executive produce the series whilst also working on a self-published memoir.
