Naked Singularity
The first photo is out from the John Boyega and Olivia Cooke-led “Naked Singularity” which co-stars Ed Skrein, Bill Skarsgard, Linda Lavin and Tim Blake Nelson. “IT” scribe Chase Palmer co-wrote and directs the film based on the novel bu Sergio De La Pava.
Boyega plays a rising star in the New York public defenders’ office who starts to question the criminal justice system after losing a case that results in his suspension. Doubting all he has worked for, and on the edge of a mental breakdown, his life unravels as he is pulled into a high-stakes heist by a unpredictable young defendant (Cooke). [Source: Variety]
The Ancestor
HBO Max has reportedly won an auction for “This Is Us” writer/producer Kay Oyegun’s psychological thriller script “The Ancestor” which will be developed as a star vehicle for Tika Sumpter (“Sonic The Hedgehog,” “Ride Along”) who collaborated on the story. Sumpter will play an African American female med student in the project which Michael B. Jordan and Alana Mayo will produce. [Source: Deadline]
With Teeth
Malin Akerman has signed on as executive producer and have a key role in the horror film “With Teeth” which also stars Lydia Hearst, Kara Hayward and Jack Donnelly. K. Asher Levin directs from the script he co-wrote with Zack Imbrogno.
The story follows a group of superstar Internet influencers who are drawn to a reclusive billionaire’s mansion only to find themselves trapped in the lair of a horrifyingly evil vampire. The only way out is to be saved by a famous online gamer (Hayward) and an old school vampire hunter set in his ways. [Source: Deadline]
His & Hers
Freckle Films, Kristen Campo, and Endeavor Content have acquired the television rights for Alice Feeney’s new novel “His & Hers”. Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael will executive produce and no network or streaming service is currently attached.
The novel tells the story of divorcees DCI Jack Harper and BBC newsreader Anna Andrews, whose paths cross again when a woman is found murdered in their hometown. Anna is reluctant to cover the case and Jack becomes suspicious of her involvement until he becomes a suspect in his own investigation. [Source: Variety]
