Hollywood Sets Production Resumption Guidelines

A 22-page white paper was delivered on Monday to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and California Governor Gavin Newsom – said paper contained Hollywood’s blueprint for resuming film and TV productions.

The report, the result of a collaborative effort by the Industry-Wide Labor Management Safety Committee Task Force, contains dozens of recommendations for physical distancing, personal protective equipment (PPE), temperature checks, and other precautions typical of businesses that are re-opening amid the pandemic.

The report also recommends that actors as well as crew who work closely with performers, like hair and make-up artists, wear masks and “observe hand hygiene practices immediately after completing the task” while all cast and crew should be required to participate in daily temperature checks.

In addition, production will likely run more slowly and carefully than before while an “autonomous COVID-19 Compliance Officer(s)” will be on hand on sets to specialize in enforcing coronavirus safety measures.

The paper comes as The Guardian reports that Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” “Fantastic Beasts 3” and “The Witcher: Season 2” will soon resume filming in the UK after government and health bodies have signed off on safety guidelines for productions to start up again.
