Late last year came reports that the “Birds of Prey” film underwent some additional filming with “John Wick” helmer Chad Stahelski getting a bit more involved than originally planned to help out with some of the second unit filming for director Cathy Yan.
Then rumored reports of test screenings claimed that the character of Cassandra Cain originally swallowed a diamond containing Black Mask’s “d–k pics” with the reshoots working to remove that plot point and switch it out for the secret to the Bertinelli fortune.
There was also weird claims about young Cassandra swallowing the diamond was something akin to pedophilia. Yan has now shot down that talk on social media this weekend, saying there never were d–k pics though ADR was used to remove a throwaway reference to a statue showing Roman’s penis. Said reference had no bearing on the plot or tie-in with the diamond.
Yan cleared up the story whilst responding to “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer’s comments about the original tone of his film and said: “I’m so sorry this happened to you, David. I know the pain.” YouTube’s Beyond the Trailer host Grace Randolph proceeded to suggest in a tweet that this was confirmation of the ‘d–k pics’ story to which Yan responded on Twitter:
“Excuse me, you have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s fascinating you would deem to try when you weren’t part of the process whatsoever… I thank you for the support. But let’s set the record straight: there were never dick pics. You peddling a pedophilia rumour is not journalism. Peddling any gossip is not journalism. I know. I was one.”
Yan explained there was a statue joke which tied into Roman’s narcissism, but the joke didn’t work and so some ADR was redone – no reshoots. Randolph then tweeted that you could see “Roman’s d–k on the statue in the picture in the diamond – and he was upset it looked ‘small’ so that’s why he was so fixated on getting it back. A picture of a statue’s d–k, especially i this context, is a d–k pic.” Yan had a response to that too:
“This is not true. There has never been any discussion around the size of Roman’s dick. I can’t believe I even have to write that! The original script called for an image of Roman as Michelangelo’s David. You know? Art? If that’s a d–k pic then the Louvre is full of them.”
“Birds of Prey” is now available for streaming and on disc.
