Following their collaborations on both “Edge of Tomorrow” and “American Made,” director Doug Liman and actor Tom Cruise are re-teaming for Cruise’s new film to be at least partly shot in outer space.
The project is not currently set up at a studio or with a financier and a timetable is unclear as Cruise will first have to complete filming the two back-to-back “Mission: Impossible” movies halted just before filming began due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Plot details are being kept secret, but Liman is confirmed to be writing the script and is producing with Cruise. Both have reportedly been working on this idea for some time and both Elon Musk and NASA are also involved. Musk and NASA are launching the first human mission into space via his SpaceX company tomorrow.
