Tribeca Enterprises and YouTube have unveiled the full line-up for the inaugural “We Are One: A Global Film Festival,” an online event launched in response to the coronavirus pandemic shutting down traditional film festivals worldwide.
Twenty-one international film festivals including Sundance, Berlin, Toyko, Sydney, Locarno, Mumbai, San Sebastian, Melbourne, Venice and Toronto, have helped curate the more than 100 titles that will stream for free on YouTube from May 29th until June 7th.
The projects include a mix of new films and gems from previous fests and boasts the world premiere of Joan Chen’s “Iron Hammer” about legendary Chinese Olympic volleyball star Jenny Lang Ping.
Other films to screen include Ivan Sen’s iconic Australian thriller “Mystery Road” (which has since spawned a sequel and a two-season TV series), Cherien Dabis’ drama “Amreeka,” Mati Diop’s celebrated “Atlantiques,” David Romay’s award-winning “Beyond The Mountain,” and the monkey shooer comedy “Eeb Allay Ooo”. There’s also a ton of documentaries, short films and VR presentations along with new discussions with the likes of Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Soderbergh, Bong Joon Ho, Jane Campion and Claire Denis.
The We Are One festival will run exclusively on YouTube from May 29th through June 7th at YouTube.com/WeAreOne. On every film page, there will be a donate button allowing viewers to contribute to organizations.
The full line-up is at WeAreOneGlobalFestival.com.
