TNT has premiered the first official trailer for the second season of Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated thriller series “The Alienist”. Titled “The Alienist: Angel of Darkness,” actors Daniel Bruhl, Luke Evans, and Dakota Fanning return in their respective roles for the new season which is set to premiere on Sunday, July 26th.
Traversing both New York’s wealthy elite and the struggling underbelly of the city’s ‘Gilded Age,’ the first season followed ‘alienist’ Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Bruhl) in pursuit of a never-before-seen ritualistic killer murdering young boys. He was joined by newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans) and Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), an ambitious secretary determined to become the city’s first female police detective.
The new season sees Sara habing opened her own private detective agency and leading the charge on a brand-new case. She reunites with Kreizler and Moore to find Ana Linares, the kidnapped infant daughter of the Spanish Consular. Their investigation leads them down a sinister path of murder and deceit, heading towards a dangerous and elusive killer.
Also returning are Douglas Smith and Matthew Shear as twin brothers Marcus and Lucius Isaacson, Robert Way Wisdom as Cyris, and Ted Levine as former NYPD Police Commissioner Thomas Byrnes. Melanie Field and newcomer Rosy McEwen are joining the cast.
The first season was 2018’s top cable series, reaching more than 50 million people across multiple platforms.
