Mackey, Alwyn, Whitehead, Beecham Join “Emily”

Emma Mackey (“Sex Education”), Joe Alwyn (“The Favourite”), Fionn Whitehead (“Dunkirk”) and Emily Beecham (“Cruella”) have all joined the cast of the biopic “Emily” about the early life of “Wuthering Heights” author Emily Bronte.

Golden Globe-nominated actress Frances O’Connor makes her directorial debut on the project starring Mackey as Emily, Beecham as her sister and “Jane Eyre” author Charlotte, Alwyn as Emily’s conflicted lover, and Whitehead as her inspiring but self-destructive brother.

O’Connor penned the film which imagines the story as a “transformative, exhilarating, and uplifting journey to womanhood of a rebel and a misfit, one of the world’s most famous, enigmatic, and provocative writers who died too soon at the age of 30.”

Harry Potter producer David Barron, Piers Tempest, Jo Bamford, Robert Connolly and Robert Patterson produce. Filming is slated to kick off in Yorkshire in the first quarter of next year.
