First Photos: CBS All Access’ “The Stand”

The first photos have been released for CBS All Access’ new ten-episode miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s famed post-apocalyptic horror novel “The Stand”.

Vanity Fair published the photos along with a lengthy feature piece about the event series. The photos offer first looks at Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail and Alexander Skarsgard as the demonic Randall Flagg along qith Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, Heather Graham as Rita Blakemoor, Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, and Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith.

The story deals with a global pandemic known as ‘Captain Tripps’ which wipes out 99% of the world’s population. The survivors are immune to the disease, but are ultimately forced to fight each other as some are drawn to a the light (Abagail), and others to darkness (Flagg).

James Marsden as principal protagonist Stu Redman and Amber Heard as the conflicted Nadine Cross don’t appear in these shots. Josh Boone (“The New Mutants”) directs, writes and produces the new series which hasn’t set an air date as yet.
