“Carlos” and “Personal Shopper” helmer Olivier Assayas’ Cuban political thriller “Wasp Network,” starring Penelope Cruz and Edgar Ramirez, will debut on Netflix next month with a June 19th release announced for everywhere bar China, the Middle East and parts of Europe.

The true story tale deals with the Cuban Five – intelligence officers who were arrested in Florida in the ’90s and later convicted of espionage and other illicit activities. Ramirez plays a Cuban pilot who leaves his wife and daughter behind to start a new life in Miami and becomes part of a spy ring tasked with observing and infiltrating Cuban-American organizations against Castro. Camp
HBO Max has optioned Lev Rosen’s young adult novel “Camp” and will turn it into a feature film that Dan Jinks will produce while “EastSiders” creator Kit Williamson pens the script. The story follows an effeminate gay teen named Randy Kapplehoff who spends the summer at Camp Outland, a camp for queer teens, and falls for Hudson Aaronson-Lim – a guy who is only into straight-acting guys/

Randy reinvents himself over the summer as Del, a buff, masculine and on-the-market camper. Even if it means giving up his show tunes, nail polish, and unicorn bedsheets. He soon has to ask himself how much he is willing to change for love. [Source: Deadline]

A Treachery of Spies
Producer David Barron (“Cinderella,” “Harry Potter”) is planning a drama series adaptation of Manda Scott’s acclaimed 2018 historical thriller detective novel “A Treachery Of Spies” which starts with a murder in 1940s WWII France and unrolls its mysteries into the present day with as a haunted female detective inspector who uncovers secrets that some are determined to stay buried. Renewals
FOX has renewed its medical drama “The Resident” for a fourth season, and the Tim Allen comedy “Last Man Standing” for a third season (and ninth overall) at the network. Both shows average a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49 after three days of delayed viewing, and both averaged just under 6 million total viewers in Live+3. In terms of other renewals, the half-hour dramedy “Gentefied” has scored a second season of eight episodes at Netflix. [Source: FOX]

Young People
B.J. Novak is set to write and executive produce the multi-camera half-hour comedy series “Young People” currently in the works at HBO Max. The Warner Bros. Television series has received a multi-script commitment at the streamer with a penalty attached and a writers room has been opened for the first six episodes.

The story follows six twenty-somethings from very different backgrounds and perspectives who find themselves sharing an apartment in Brooklyn. The show tackles friendship in the age of argument, electronic connection, and the joys and anxieties of building a life in a gig economy. [Source: TV Line]
