Actor/singer Nick Jonas (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” “Midway”) and “Matrix” veteran Laurence Fishburne are set to star in the action thriller “The Blacksmith” for AGC Studios.
Jonas plays Wes Loomis, a go-to weapons expert for the intelligence community who goes on the run after his lab is destroyed and colleagues murdered.
Using his unique skills set to keep him alive, and with the aid of a brilliant young CIA analyst Noelle Hazlitt, he seeks out his mentor, Mather (Fishburne), a retired blacksmith, to guide Noelle and him on a globe-trotting journey that keeps this improbable pair one step ahead of their pursuers.
“Taken” helmer Pierre Morel will direct from a script by Ben Ripley (“Source Code”) based on the Malik Evans and Richard Sparkman-penned 2011 graphic novel.
The project is being lined up as a potential franchise starter and production aims to commence later this year. Jon Shestack, Jason Netter and Jeremy Stein will produce.
