A new trailer has been released for “American Woman,” an atmospheric drama which offers a slightly fictionalized different perspective take on a story very much inspired by the Patty Hearst kidnapping scandal.
In the film, a young woman is kidnapped and tortured but is seemingly rescued by someone that helps her escape and live a life on the run. What’s different here is that the narrative point of view comes not from the girl, but from Jenny – an activist assigned to take care of her and helps her leave the terrible situation.
Hong Chau, Sarah Gadon, Ellen Burstyn, John Gallagher Jr., and Lola Kirke star in the Semi Chellas-directed feature which played the Fall film festival circuit and will arrive soon on VOD.
