“The Matrix 4” Targets Early July Restart

Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow’s fourth “The Matrix” film is looking to return to production in Berlin in early July.

Production began back in February in San Francisco on the Lana Wachowski-directed film which brings back Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. Production then moved to the German capital but was quickly stopped out of safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The restart talk coincides with confirmed reports that the cast has signed eight-week extensions to their existing deals which will allow the studio to keep the actors on hold until July 6th. This suggests filming aims to resume again around that date.

Feature film production is slated to resume in a handful of countries shortly with New Zealand and Poland locked and both Australia and Germany likely to resume soon too. The UK government is said to be relaxing restrictions, but Warners isn’t moving forward with “The Batman” or “Fantastic Beasts 3” there just yet.

Wachowski, David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon star in the film whose cast includes Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne-Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick, Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere, Brian J. Smith, Erendira Ibarra, Andrew Caldwell and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
