Amazon Prime Snags “Alex Rider” Series

Amazon Prime Video has snagged U.K. rights to Eleventh Hour Films and Sony Pictures Television’s coming-of-age spy thriller “Alex Rider” which will launch on the platform on June 4th with all eight episodes at once.

Otto Farrant stars as Alex Rider, a London-based teenager who has unknowingly been trained since childhood to be a spy. Pressured to help investigate his uncle’s death, and how it connects to the assassination of two high-profile billionaires, Alex goes undercover in a remote boarding school called Point Blanc.

Stephen Dillane and Vicky McClure co-star and this marks the first outlet to pick up the series, based on Anthony Horowitz’s book series, in any market as Sony financed and produced it independently.

The property was previously adapted into a 2006 feature which starred Alex Pettyfer in the role though this version is said to be more adult in tone.
