Daft Punk is set to collaborate with famed Italian genre film director Dario Argento for his next film “Occhiali Neri” (aka. “Black Glasses”).
Speaking to Repubblica (via The Film Stage), Argento says the band are admirers of his work and they called him saying “we want to work with you”.
Argento says he expects that they will be sending him their first tracks soon and will visit Rome when it’s possible to travel. He says the pair think Argento’s script for his new film is one of his “most interesting”.
Argento calls it his return to crime films: “It’s the adventure, in the nocturnal Rome, of a Chinese girl and child. In the second part, the escape takes them into the rocky, bushy countryside of Lazio. [It’s] different from the sweetness of the Tuscan valleys, but for me beautiful.”
They hope to begin shooting in September. The project will mark Daft Punk’s first release since 2013’s “Random Access Memories” and first soundtrack since “TRON: Legacy” a decade ago.
