While not a lot of industry news is happening during the shutdown, actors are still popping up on talk shows (albeit remotely) and talking about stories from their careers.
Recently, actress Halle Berry spoke with Jimmy Fallon for “The Tonight Show” and was asked if there was ever a stunt she was embarrassed to have flubbed during a film’s making.
Turns out there was – and it involved her stint as a spy named Jinx in Pierce Brosnan’s final James Bond film “Die Another Day”. The scene in question sees her NSA agent and his MI6 agent getting intimate in between the sheets when Jinx pulls out a knife and uses it to slice off pieces of a fresh fig laying nearby which she shares with him.
When the scene was being filmed however, it turns out it was anything but sexy. In fact it almost killed her with Berry saying: “I am supposed to be trying to be all sexy with a fig – and then I end up choking on it. And he had to get up and do the Heimlich. So not sexy, so not sexy.”
There’s no hint of her having difficulties in the final cut. She also has nothing but praise for co-star Brosnan: “He was there for me, and he will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.”
Brosnan was famously on the receiving end of a Heimlich in the Robin Williams comedy “Mrs. Doubtfire”.
