New Photos From “Wonder Woman 1984”

Assuming it doesn’t move again, Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 1984” could be the first or one of the first major blockbusters to score a release on something resembling the other side of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, some new details, photos and artwork from the film have been released online by Empire Magazine ahead of their new “Wonder Woman 1984” issue. The shots include a tender moment between Diana (Gal Gadot) and Steve (Chris Pine) along with another shot of titular heroine in her Golden Eagle armour.

Speaking with the publication, Gadot discussed how her character has changed in the time between the films:

“The first movie was a coming of age, it was Diana becoming Wonder Woman. She was very naive and she didn’t understand the complexities of life. A fish out of water. In this movie, that’s not the case whatsoever. Diana has evolved. She’s much more mature and very wise. However, she’s very lonely. She lost all of her team members and she’s guarded. And then something crazy happens.”

That ‘crazy’ includes the resurrection of Steve Trevor who died in the final act of the first film but is somehow returned here:

“Chris was an integral part of the movie, and of its success, and because he and I and Patty really enjoyed working together, we all wanted to have him back. And Patty and [co-writer] Geoff Johns found the best way that serves the narrative to bring Steve back.”

“Wonder Woman 1984” is currently slated to open August 14th.
