A couple of sequels or potential sequels have seen updates in recent days. First up, “Fast and Furious” star Vin Diesel has revealed that he has been using the spare time he has in quarantine productively.
On Wednesday he shared a promotional photo of himself on Instagram in the 2015 fantasy action movie “The Last Witch Hunter” along with an enticing caption that seemed to tease a sequel saying: “Some of the best scripts will be written during this time… All love, Always.”
The Breck Eisner-helmed first film had Diesel as Kaulder, an immortal witch hunter, who has to face the Witch Queen once again after hunting down her minions for centuries by himself. Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, and Michael Caine co-starred.
Diesel teased a potential sequel last month during press rounds for “Bloodshot,” saying Lionsgate were “actively creating the sequel”. Costing $90 million, the movie made just $27.4 million domestically and $147 million worldwide whilst also scoring poor reviews.
Next up, Paul Rudd has confirmed he has had a go at penning a script for the third “Ant-Man” movie and a new report at GWW indicates Rudd’s screenplay featured appearances by Marvel villain M.O.D.O.K. as well as the organization A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics). The benefactor that Walton Goggins’s Sonny Burch was woking for in the second film will probably turn out to be them.
Rudd had a screenplay credit on the first and writing credit on the second as well as starring in both. An animated series starring M.O.D.O.K. is currently in the works with Patton Oswalt starring and executive producing
Finally a new report has indicated that a second “Atomic Blonde” film is in early development at Netflix. Discussing Film reports that no screenwriter has been attached to the project yet, but Charlize Theron is set to produce and is expected to reprise her role as well. This follows on from last year when the first film’s helmer David Leitch indicated an unnamed streaming service was interested in doing a follow-up.
