With many network shows having had their seasons cut short due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, CBS is bringing back an old pre-streaming and mostly pre-disc tradition.
With the Viacom-CBS merger done, CBS now has access to the Paramount Pictures library and announced on Tuesday that it will air five iconic films on Sunday nights throughout the month of May – starting on May 3rd.
These will include “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Forrest Gump,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Titanic” and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”. This is being seen as an initial run and could continue.
Movies effectively disappeared from broadcast TV back in the early-mid 2000s due to the rise of DVD followed by Blu-ray and streaming. CBS was the last major broadcast network to cancel its CBS Sunday Movie programming back in 2005.
