Musician Adam Schlesinger, a member of Fountains of Wayne, has died as a result of coronavirus complications at the age of 52. He is survived by his two daughters.
Schlesinger had been on a ventilator for the last two weeks and while initially he’d been put in a medically induced coma, his attorney, Josh Grier, described him as ‘very sick and heavily sedated’ before he passed away.
Schlesinger composed songs for movies like “There’s Something About Mary,” “Shallow Hal,” “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” “Josie and the Pussycats,” “Music and Lyrics” and “Two Weeks Notice”.
He also penned and co-produced the title song for “That Thing You Do!,” is responsible for over one hundred songs in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” and received Emmy nominations for his works with Stephen Colbert and “Sesame Street”.
Schlesinger was writing the lyrics and music for a new theatre production with comedian Sarah Silverman at the time of his death.
