CBS’ reboot of “Hawaii Five-0” has been announced as coming to its end after its current tenth season. The series will air a two-hour finale on April 3rd and upon its conclusion will have aired 240 episodes – just shy of the 279 episodes of the original.
The series follows an elite federalized task force whose mission is to wipe out the crime on the islands and stars the likes of Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath, Beulah Koale, Katrina Law, Taylor Wily, Dennis Chun, Kimee Balmilero, and Chi McBride.
Both O’Loughlin and Caan’s contracts are up at the end of this season. O’Loughlin suffered a serious back injury during the early seasons of the show and has been dealing with it ever since, even receiving stem cell treatment, but now he feels he can’t continue. The network considered continuing on but have decided to end things.
Actors James Marsters, William Sadler, and Mark Dacascos are all slated to return for the finale. The series has had a solid ratings performance for ten years (40 million viewers tuned in this season so far) along with being a big international seller for CBS TV Studios.
