Ford Makes Promise Of Fifth Indy Goodness

Fans of the “Indiana Jones” film series are well aware of both the burden of expectations and a feeling of disappointment.

‘Temple of Doom’ wasn’t quite “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and more recently ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ open to sky-high expectation – only to come up short compared to the original trilogy.

Another who is aware of all this is franchise star Harrison Ford. With a fifth entry on the way, Ford told HeyUGuys this week that those involved in the new film took the time to get things right.

At the same time, they’ve taken the lessons that come with success stories like the Marvel Studios films and applied them here:

“I don’t really want to give them [the audience] what they want to see, I want to give them something they didn’t anticipate. They are used to a degree of disappointment when you revisit. Certainly, the Marvel movies have made a spectacular example of a success [that] worked the other way around. They killed it! Well, we’re not going to make another Indiana Jones unless we are in a position to kill it. We want it to be the best…We’ve got some scheduling issues and a few script things to do, but we are determined to get it right before we get it made.”

The new film is slated to begin production shortly ahead of a July 9th 2021 release.
