Chris Evans Is Your Dentist In “Little Shop”

Chris Evans is in negotiations to play the sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello in “Little Shop of Horrors,” a new film adaptation of the cult movie turned Broadway musical which Greg Berlanti will helm for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The story follows Seymour, a meek florist under the thumb of the owner Mr. Mushnik, but where he also is secretly in love with his co-worker Audrey.

Seymour becomes a celebrity when he discovers a venus flytrap-looking plant he dubs ‘Audrey II,’ but his life becomes disastrously complicated when the plant demands to be fed human blood, and eventually people themselves.

Taron Egerton and Scarlett Johansson are circling the lead roles of Seymour and Audrey respectively, while Billy Porter has already signed up to voice the carnivorous plant Audrey II.

Evans’ Orin is Audrey’s abusive boyfriend who finds great pleasure in his chosen profession. Steve Martin played the role in the 1986 Frank Oz film, a part that gets one of the best songs.

Marc Platt, Sarah Schechter and Berlanti are producing the new version which will shoot this summer.
