“Colette,” “Disobedience” and “Ida” scribe Rebecca Lenkiewicz has been hired by Annapurna and Plan B to write the script for a “Spotlight”-esque film about the New York Times’ investigation into serial abuser Harvey Weinstein.
The feature follows the team of female journalists – reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey (pictured), and their editor Rebecca Corbett – who broke the Weinstein story and won a Pulitzer Prize for their game-changing reporting in the process. The story aims to unfold in a procedural manner similar to “All the President’s Men”.
The New York Times ran its initial Weinstein story on October 5th 2017, kicking off a seismic cultural shift leading to the #TimesUp and other movements. Plan B and Annapurna are reportedly committed to making the movie.
